Juno Update

Juno got through surgery just fine. Juno has been through three surgeries so far. Scent gland removal, cyst drained, lump removed. New lump now at incision site and now another lump on other side. I know this must be cancer. I know they have to be removed. The medicine doesn't seem to be working. He is still a very active gerbil.

Juno Surgery

Juno went to the vet's for surgery on his growth today. Of course I am worried about the old man. He's a strong feisty gerbil. I hope he comes through okay. This will be the third time that he's gone under anesthesia. His boys ghost and winter are worried about him. They destroyed the tank trying to find him.

Garden Update

2020 Covid pandemic hit. I was laid off from work. Ohio was In lockdown. So what did I do? I made masks and work on my garden. Planted many perennials like coneflowers, Black eyed Susan, yarrow, butterfly weed, bee balm, Shasta daisies, Lilies and a hosta. Today I planted a blue cardinal flower. Right next to my Asian lilies, daisies and black eyed susans. I am also working on a rock garden. It will be a pet Memorial Rock garden. I really hope my butterfly garden takes off. I have bird feeders and a small birdbath too.

Lost Shenanigans and Diana this year. Eris is 100% recovered from her UTI.

Been learning to cook better too.

Pet Update

It's been awhile. I currently have a 5 gerbils, a mouse and two duprasi girls. This year has been rough with the Covid pandemic. I have been out of work since March. Just trying to stay safe. I pretty much stayed home. I've learned to cook better. Sewn a lot of masks. And take care of my gerbils. I still craft my knitted gerbils. My current project is working in the garden.

Loss of a pet - Mike

We lost a loved one recently. It was Mike. He was a little over three years old. He was a wonderful little black gerbil. He started developing teeth problems so he had monthly visits with the vet. Then he started to develop a tumor on his belly. We was on meds and goop on his belly for awhile. It helped for awhile but something else must have been going on inside. He suddenly wasn't feeling like himself. Got into the vet the same day. He already started to feel cold in my hands. So we said goodbye. His brother Ike will miss him. They were separated a few months ago. Ike attacked Mike. Now we know why. Ike was always near. Ike hasn't been himself since Mike passed. That day all the gerbils were strangely quiet as if they knew. This is how I want to remember Mike. He loved playing with his wicker ball toys. He couldn't chew but he did try. Bless his heart. he enjoyed the gerbil life the best he could.

It has been awhile since I posted.  Much has happened in the gerbil world. Lost a few.  Got a few.  Very recently I lost my agility gerbil Dixie.  Then little Oscar.  He was very tiny for six months old.  He was the runt of the litter.  I put Sam and Felix together.  They are best buds.  I have Spot and Chewie together.  Chewie is my rehab gerbil.  I will tell his story in another post.  I currently have nine gerbils.  One girl Spot and the boys: Mike,  Ike, Jaime, Tyrion, Chewie, Felix, Sam and Connor.
